On the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya's bustling capital, the slum of Korogocho was once notorious for violence and sexual assault against women.

It was particularly bad for its female elderly population who were easy prey for younger men.

Many HIV positive men would rape them based on the belief that they would be cured of AIDS that way.

Lacking support from local authorities to combat the violence directed against them, the women were left to fend for and fight for themselves - and they have: Meet Nairobi's martial arts grannies!
